Don Jamieson reveals details for new comedy album, ‘Communication Breakdown’; launches new track, “Kiefer”, online

6ac9dd8f-4295-41ef-a6e5-6cb30bc2d1af

On April 21st, former “That Metal Show” host and comedian Don Jamieson will release his new comedy album, Communication Breakdown, via Metal Blade Records. Recorded at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Communication Breakdown‘s title and cover come from Don‘s Rutgers University senior yearbook photo. Don explains: “My young nieces and nephews found the photo at my mom’s house and starting texting me how funny it was, and when I saw it again after so many years, I agreed! I majored in communication, so it was just a matter of adding the ‘Breakdown’ to it, which is obviously something you never want to happen in comedy.” For a preview of Communication Breakdown, the track “Kiefer” can be heard at:metalblade.com/donjamieson – where the album can also be pre-ordered.

Communication Breakdown track-listing:
1. Dave Mustaine Riffs, Intervention, Baby in t…
2. Sober, Finger-Banging, Drunk Logic
3. Weed, Cigs, Election 2016
4. Kiefer
5. Myrtle Beach
6. Free Clinic, Raccoons
7. Rockers Aren’t P.C.
8. Where Have All the Rock Stars Gone?
9. Rocking Women, Viking Metal, Big Four
10. Vagina No-No’s, Van Fucker, Doggie Style
11. Dating at 50, Threesome (Almost)
12. Brad & Angelina, Great Head, Mr. Brownstone
13. Johnny Depp

Named one of the top 10 metalhead comedians by Revolver Magazine, Don has captured some of his most irreverent work to-date on his third album, Communication Breakdown. Don explains: “This album has tons of jokes but really revolves around 4 or 5 longer stories, which is something I’ve never really done before. I usually just like shot gunning jokes like beers at a frat party, but this time around I tried something a little different. It took a while to develop them for the stage but am really happy with the way they turned out, particularly the track ‘Kiefer’, which is a true story about a crazy night with the ’24’ actor.
Other than that, there’s a little bit of something for everyone on this disc, and I hope people who buy or steal it enjoy it as much as I do.”

For more than three decades, Slayer’s onslaught has proven the band to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet, the band that other heavy acts are measured against and aspire to. The two-time Grammy-winners have also accumulated an abundance of certified Gold Albums along with “Best…” awards from media outlets all over the world, including Kerrang!, SPIN, Metal Hammer, Revolver, and Esquire. Throughout Slayer’s history, the band has never faltered in unleashing its extreme and focused sonic assault, and, unlike many of its contemporaries who “commercialized” their sound, Slayer has remained crushing and brutal, steadfastly refusing to cater to the mainstream. Slayer’s founding member, guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed in 2013, and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has been filling in for him since. Paul Bostaph, who was Slayer’s drummer from ’94 – ’01, has rejoined bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and guitarist Kerry King, and is back behind the kit.

In September 2015, Slayer released Repentless, the band’s 12th studio album, the first without Hanneman and first with producer Terry Date, to widespread rave reviews and the highest chart debut of the band’s career. The band also teamed up with director BJ McDonnell for two high-concept and brutal music videos for the album’s “Repentless” (9.5-million views) and then for “You Against You.” (4.2-million views).

BRIAN ‘HEAD’ WELCH NEW BOOK

WITH MY EYES WIDE OPEN: MIRACLES AND MISTAKES ON MY WAY BACK TO KORN

OUT TODAY, MAY 17 FROM NELSON BOOKS

NOW AVAILABLE HERE

f126fd76-b97b-4514-8227-936006e97cea

The latest book from New York Times bestselling author, and KORN co-founder and lead guitarist, BRIAN “HEAD” WELCH, With My Eyes Wide Open: Miracles and Mistakes On My Way Back To Korn is officially out today (May 17) from Nelson Books.

With My Eyes Wide Open is the guitarist’s account of the brutal, eye-opening and decade-long trial by fire after leaving KORN, from the perils of fathering a teen lost in depression and self-mutilation to the harsh realities of playing solo and surviving the shattering betrayal of a trusted friend. In this intensely inspiring redemption saga, perhaps the most inspiring is BRIAN‘s radical decision to rejoin KORN (surrounded by a lifestyle he almost lost everything to) and reconcile with the tribe of people he once considered family.

Told with humor and no-holds-barred frankness, the raw and brutally honest follow-up to WELCH‘s 2007 bestseller, Save Me From Myself will appeal to a wide range of readers. With My Eyes Wide Open is truly an inspiring story for all.

Written with Carol Traver, the book is 240 pages in length, featuring 16 full color photos from WELCH‘s personal archive. Fans can purchase it at any book retailer including AmazonBarnes and NobleChristianBooks.com and at WELCH‘s official webstore. Specially priced bundled products and limited edition items from BRIAN “HEAD” WELCH and his solo band Love & Death are also available at his official webstore.

In anticipation of the book’s release, WELCH spoke with MusicRadar.com saying, “It’s a mixture of laughter and sadness and just heaviness…it’s like cleaning out your closet. I share a lot of stuff in the book. That’s the way to help people in life, to share your difficulties. You share what you’ve overcome, and I’ve overcome a lot.” He also shared the 10 records that changed his life; check that list out HERE.

Early media praise for With My Eyes Wide Open:

“In his latest book With My Eyes Wide Open: Miracles and Mistakes on My Way Bay to Korn, the brutally honest Welch inspires readers to never give up on their faith even when they are being tested and nearly consumed by the rigors of bad decisions.” -Chris Carpenter, CHRISTIAN BROADCAST NETWORK, 5/16/16

“Welch’s amiable tone and honest assessments about himself and his actions engender sympathy. But it’s his relationship with his daughter that is the core of the book. The struggles – his, hers, theirs – are presented with an almost brutal honesty…You’re left with the story of a man who found out that in order to be in control of himself and his life, he had to let go of whatever control he thought he had – not just in faith, not just in finance, but in people.” -Cesareo Garasa, THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN 5/12/16

“It’s a story about helping his daughter beat her drugs habit and helping get her life back on track with heart breaking decisions. Through prayer he was able to overcome these obstacles as well as to find salvation by reuniting with his old band KORN after a decade of being away. It’s a story many have told… but nobody’s is like this!” –Robert Cavuoto, MYGLOBALMIND.COM, 5/9/16

BRIAN “HEAD” WELCH is the co-founder and lead guitarist of the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum metal band KORN. He is also the bestselling author of the book, Save Me from Myself. For more info, visit brianheadwelch.net and connect onFacebookTwitter and Instagram.

Showcased in a solo performance, the video features 3 minutes and 33 seconds of John 5’s mad skills as he riffs away on his Fender Telecasters. The video single is the fourth in a yearlong series in which he’ll debut a new video on the first day of each month in 2016.

John 5 has had an illustrious career collaborating with chart-topping artists such as k.d. lang, David Lee Roth, and Rod Stewart. He has performed on critically acclaimed world tours with Marilyn Manson, and is currently the guitarist and a co-songwriter for Rob Zombie. John 5 ventured into the world of film scores when he composed for Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem. Since 2004, he has enjoyed a successful solo career, with eight studio albums to date. He recently released his Greatest Hits Vol. 1.

“All my life I’ve really enjoyed music: making music, playing it, and recording it,” he says. “It’s such a relief and a joy to do what I do for a living. I know it sounds corny, but I think the meaning of life is to do what you love and be happy.”

LA’s Cage 9 Has Released Their New Video, “Everything You Love Will Someday Die”

Cage_9

LA’s Cage 9 has released their new video, “Everything You Love Will Someday Die” the first single from their upcoming album ILLUMINATOR, out June 3rd via EMP LABEL GROUP, the label founded by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, distributed by eOne in North America, and SPV in Europe.

The video can be seen here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MUtX9oYL9E

The album is currently available for preorder from empmerch.com, and Itunes, with the single.

Cage9 main man Evan Rodaniche had this to say about the track. “This song is dedicated to my father, who passed away about a month ago after a two year battle with cancer. But even when I first wrote these lyrics at the onset of his terminal diagnosis as a sort of comforting mantra, in the back of my mind I believed my dad was indestructible. I never thought I’d be adding an “in loving memory” dedication at the end of this video. But then he was gone. And that’s what this is all about. We spend our modern lives wrapped up in our first world problems, completely disconnected with the natural cycles of the planet around us.”

He continues, “We shot the video DIY with a couple Canon DSLR cameras, a black sheet in
our rehearsal room and about forty non-actor friends, fans and family who showed up one sunny Los Angeles afternoon in 2015 to mouth the lyrics to a song they’d never heard. We aimed to bring home the message that no matter who you are, we’re all in this together.

“Everything You Love” is also the track that caught David Ellefson’s attention and ultimately inspired him to sign us to EMP. After a few conversations with our A&R guy Thom Hazaert, he brought it to David, and he got it. The rest is history.”

Says Ellefson, “Cage 9 is definitely the real deal. When I first heard “Everything You Love Will Someday Die”, it instantly struck me as the closest I’ve heard to a song with a true Metallica/Megadeth core, with the radio accessibility to really connect with a modern Rock audience. And with the band’s history, and everything they’ve accomplished, they were a perfect fit for what we are doing at EMP.”

Rodaniche continues, “As for the song, itself, it’s a little bit of old school thrash mixed with something more melodic and a little piano and acoustic guitar wankery to push it over the 6 minute
epic-metal-song mark. (Yes, there’s a radio edit.) I was the 14 year old kid running around with a worn out cassette of Peace Sells in his Walkman, so having the dude that brought us pretty much THE most recognizable bass riff of my, (and half the planet over 30’s) youth, dig our band is a HUGE honor.”

“Cage9 originated in Panama where I grew up playing in a band yet having pretty much never experienced famous bands performing live to learn from, not to mention any of our idols like Megadeth or Metallica. This definitely makes getting this chance to work with David in a mentor/label situation that much more amazing. Very excited to be releasing our new album Illuminator with EMP this summer.”

Eventually the band moved to Los Angeles, and with no outside help, has released almost 100 songs over 6 albums (including one in Spanish), sold 25,000 plus physical copies worldwide, toured the US (over 50 dates last year alone), Japan and Central America, as direct openers for Ozzy Osbourne, Bad Religion, Seether, In This Moment, and have also shared bills with Sevendust, Hellyeah, Karnivool and many more. Band mastermind Evan Rodaniche (who writes and produces all Cage9 material) also spent a few years on guitar with sci-fi metal purveyors Powerman 5000 and helped co-write, record, mix and produce their last few albums along with ex-Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm’s new solo album, Boy Hits Car and more. The quartet now includes San Diego native Brian Sumwalt on
drums, Michigan transplant Matt Borowski on guitar, and Leslie Wyatt on bass and backing vocals.

“Illuminator has catchy hooks, great musicianship and killer songwriting…
I can see them making some real noise in 2016.” Blasko / Ozzy Osbourne

“Cage9 totally belong on the radio…”

Ben Bruce / Asking Alexandria

“I can’t remember when an opening band grabbed our whole band’s attention like Cage9 did recently. We watched side stage for their entire set and became believers.”
Jason Null / Saving Abel

“There is a certain pop element to the songs that really pushes them over the top… The same element that pushed bands like Shinedown and Hinder over into the Top 40 world. …and the production is fucking OUTSTANDING.”
Matt DiRito / PopEvil

“I’ve been a fan of Evan’s vocals for a very long time and the new material really showcases the incredible talent of this band.
Great hooks and very well-crafted songs all over this new record!”
Francesco Artusato / Devil You Know

“Goddamn it’s the best stuff I’ve spent time with in a while…it’s totally beautiful.”

Ron Underwood / 9Electric

“I love listening to new music…and the new Cage9 does not disappoint!”
Brian “Head” Welch / Korn

Metal Blade Records launches new edition of “6 Bands in 60 Seconds”

mb60

In conjunction with RED Music, Metal Blade Records has launched a new edition of the “6 Bands in 60 Seconds” campaign, where CEO Brian Slagel spotlights six artists from the label’s roster every three months. The goal of the promotion is to help fans discover new music from some of the most promising acts in the scene. The latest installment of the series features Brimstone Coven, Ketzer, Gehennah, Accuser, Artillery, and Sourvein; to watch the video clip, and to learn more about the artists, please visit: http://metalblade.com/6bands

Hailed as “kick-ass dark occult rock” (PureGrainAudio.com), Brimstone Coven released their new album, Black Magic, this past January. Boasting gritty, groovy riffs (a la Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Led Zeppelin) with Pink Floydian psychedelic movements, Black Magic also includes three-part vocal harmonies reminiscent of the Mamas and Papas, Yes, and The Byrds, resulting in “an outstanding genre album, bound to enthuse countless listeners!” (Legacy Magazine, Germany). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/brimstonecoven

Ketzer (German for “heretic”) also released their latest album, Starless, this past January. From sounds of raging fury, to the echoes of calm and cleansing waves, Starless is a record that will take you on a journey that is unexpected, yet familiar at the same time. As Decibel Magazine asserts, “What Ketzer have done on ‘Starless’ is open up a large swath of potential musical territory, while also managing to understand the confines of their origins. They’ve figured out a new vocabulary.” For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ketzergermany

After nearly 20 years, this past February marks the first full-length release (Too Loud To Live, Too Drunk To Die) from Swedish street metallers Gehennah, since 1997’s Decibel Rebel. “If you’ve ever wondered what Motorhead riffs sound like backwards, or you believe spirit – and spirits! – are more important than musicianship, then Gehennah are your new favorite bar-brawling bruthas” (Decibel Magazine). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/gehennah.metal

Last week, German thrashers Accuser unleashed their 11th full-length, The Forlorn Divide, featuring the band’s trademark blend of powerful thrash metal, virtuoso guitar-work, intricate drum patterns – and of course, gripping, harsh vocals, highlighting the dark recesses of human psyche that are described in the lyrics. After 30 years in the scene, the members of Accuser have perfected their signature style: “The younger generation could learn a thing (or ten) from these gentlemen” (DeadRhetoric.com). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/Accuser2008

On March 25th, Danish power-thrash metallers Artillery will unleash their new album, Penalty By Perception. A familiar, yet modern thrash attack, Penalty By Perception delivers the band’s signature riffing, with powerful drumming and melodic singing – and promises to be a new fan favorite in the quintet’s storied career! For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ARTILLERY.DK

For over two decades, Sourvein front-man T-Roy has pushed through poverty, the deaths of friends and family, bouts of severe depression, periods of alcohol abuse, and an absence of the stability provided by a consistent record label to build the band into a highly respected force in the metal, doom, sludge, and crust underground. At long last, Sourvein has found a proper home for their doom-laden Southern noise with Metal Blade Records, who will be releasing their upcoming full-length, Aquatic Occult, on April 8th.
