EVIL DREAD debuts new song and music video, “Midnight Monster”

Former Thrown Into Exile singer, Evan Seidlitz, debuts new song and music video, “Midnight Monster” for solo project, EVIL DREAD.

The song was co-written and produced by Augustus Cryns, who previously worked with The Dead RabbitsAttika7, Ill Niño, The Academy Is and Hedley.

Ron Thunderwood, singer from the band 9Electric, directed the video and tells us, “When Evan came to me with the idea for the video I was so stoked! It was my first real leap into animation, exactly something I’d wanted to direct for a long time. We had such a blast on this.”

Adds Evan Seidlitz, “Everyone wants to play the villain. Playing the villain is the best. This video gave me the opportunity to do that. This was just for fun and artistic pleasure. I’ve been devoting most of my time to another new project, which will debut by the New Year.”

ABOUT LAMB OF GOD: Richmond, VA natives LAMB OF GOD originally formed in 1994 as Burn The Priest while in college together at Virginia Commonwealth University, initially performing in meagre venues and hocking rough demos amongst the local scene. In 1998, the band changed their moniker to LAMB OF GOD, which would mark their impending ascension to top-tier status, as well as one of the only tangible career deviations that the band would ever undertake – having consistently released chart-topper after chart-topper while maintaining a true and constant line-up of members and increasingly growing fanbase; a rarity in modern music. The band’s first major release, 2000’s New American Gospel, was immediately touted as an instant metal classic. AllMusic stated it best, “The essential signatures of post-Pantera metal are in abundance on Lamb of God’s inaugural album. New American Gospel provides a mighty oak upon which gritty American metal’s faith is maintained, effectively bridging the ’90s’ insistence upon drill-sergeant technicality and the old school’s determined focus on riff construction.”

In 2007, just a short time after putting out monumentally successful releases Ashes of the Wake (Album, 2004, #27 of 200 debut), Killadelphia (DVD, 2004, RIAA Platinum), and Sacrament (Album, 2006, #8 of 200 debut), LAMB OF GOD was honored with a Grammy nomination for the track “Redneck”. This would mark the first of four Grammy nominations for the band. After the release of Walk With Me In Hell (DVD, 2008), the second and third Grammy nominations came in 2010 and 2011 for tracks “Set to Fail” and “In Your Words”, both cut from Wrath (CD, 2009, #2 of 200 debut). The fourth nomination arrived for the band’s track “Ghost Walking”, cut from their 2012 album Resolution (CD, #3 of 200 debut). Now, on the cusp of releasing their seventh full-length album VII: Sturm Und Drang, the five-piece is poised to prove their lasting consistency by offering another blistering contribution of the highest quality heavy metal – a record that no one other than LAMB OF GOD could truly execute.

Having amassed the globe with countless world tours and millions of albums sold, all-the-while overcoming countless hurdles ranging from personal demons to vocalist Randy Blythe’s 2013 trial in Prague (which resulted in the acclaimed 2014 full-length feature documentary, As The Palaces Burn, and upcoming book, Dark Days: A Memoir, authored by the frontman and releasing in July), LAMB OF GOD stands the test of time as the biggest, most influential heavy metal band of the new millennium.

Dead End Sky: The Sky is the Limit!

Recently I went to a show at Loaded in Hollywood to see the hard rock band Dead End Sky. The show was awesome! I really enjoyed watching this band on stage! They sounded great and played really well together! So far they have played four shows, three in LA and one in Vegas. I had the opportunity to sit down with Kyle Zamanek,  lead singer of Dead End Sky, to get the low down of the bands roots and  to find out what makes them unique and where they are headed.  Dead End Sky is definitely a band I recommend checking out!

RNR: When did Dead End Sky form? How would you describe your music?

Kyle: We formed in early 2013.  I would classify our music as Modern Hard Rock.

RNR: Who are your influences?

Kyle: There are so many, it would take a lot of print to name them all.   Many genres & bands influence our sound.  Classic rock like The Beatles & Pink Floyd to 90’s Alt/Grunge like Alice In Chains & Oasis to Modern Rock bands like Seether & Shinedown to metal like Pantera & Machine Head to pop like Adele & Christina Perri to Folk/Singer-Songwriters like The Civil Wars & Simon and Garfunkel.  I could go on & on.

RNR: What makes your band unique?

Kyle: Instead of being conformed to one type of sound, we try to spread the style around a bit.  Some bands kick major ass, but if you listen to the album from front to back, it stays in the same style of writing.  I would never want limitations to be imposed on our creativity by our fan base.  I’m not saying we’ll ever be as eclectic as, say, Mr. Bungle, but you get the idea.  One song might have a more metal vibe while another has a more bluesy vibe.

RNR: If you could play in any festival which would it be and why?

Kyle: I would love to play in one of the big European festivals like Download or Rock am Ring.  I love the diversity of the lineups and obviously the crowds are massive.

RNR: How is your first album coming along?

Kyle: Most of it is completed but we’ve got to tie up some loose ends.  There’s also a couple of new songs we want included so we’re working on that as well.

RNR: What do you want RNR readers to know about Dead End Sky?

Kyle: We’re a new kickass rock band!  If you’re in the Southwest Region, find us on our various social media outlets and come check a show out.

NAMM Rock N Bowl part 1/22/14

NAMM Rock N Bowl took place Wednesday night, January 22, 2014 from 5:30 pm to midnight at Concourse off of the 91 and Kraemer. With the start of the NAMM event held at the convention center, a day filled to the brim with blood, sweat and tears, participants needed a bit of fun and a place to kick back.

The night started off with a few rounds of bowling, and the venue also hosted a rocker-chick fashion runway and photoshoot by  Romantic Rock Designs. It was hard to pick favorites as each lady involved was a bonafide heartbreaker. Lovely job gals!

Coldcock Whisky, also present at last October’s Great American Nightmare, had a spotlight appearance at the event when our very own Rock n Rollers at RnR decided to toast the evening with celebratory shots- to another successful weekend at NAMM!

So far this year’s NAMM has been a wonderful experience and it started off with knocking down pins with friends.

The main fundraising feature of this event is the celebrity bowling experience allowing the public to bid to bowl with their favorite celebrity. Grand prizes go out to the individual and team with the highest bowling score.

Tats for Troops, silent auctions, Dollars for DJ requests and personal donations will assist the bowling event in raising funds. Fans, participants and VIP’s alike will have an opportunity to network with music professionals while enjoying a relaxing environment. The Concourse Bowling Bar and Grill houses 40 bowling lanes and has plenty of room for more than 1,000 customers.

“We really want to give back to the troops,” says Rob Weekes, Owner of Black Ticket VIP and a Veteran. “With the NAMM Show starting on Thursday, January 23rd, the Rock N Bowl is a perfect kick-off event for those coming to Anaheim for the convention.”

The NAMM Show, National Association of Music Merchants, runs from January 23 through January 27, 2014 at the Anaheim Convention Center and is known as the COMIC CON of Music.

Paramore @ The ACC November 20, 2013

Couldn’t stop…

Paramore popped into the bisected ACC on November 20th for a happy hump-day crowd of 5000. Most of pop punk diva Hayley Williams’ fans were cool chicks in the young to mid 20s range, totally stoked for the “Self Titled Tour”. Screams raised the roof when the curtain dropped and Hayley belted out her first words, “ARE YOU READY?” The two friendly openers, Lights and Hellogoodbye, warmed up the chilled crowd who waited a while outside for ticket issues to be resolved. Nobody seemed to mind because Paramore burned it up for a brilliant 2 hour show.

The school girl dom and star of the show skipped across the stage with plenty of sparkle. She shook her orange freshly cropped do and pushed the energy into the rebellious red zone with “That’s What You Get”. Spitting like a punk rocker and slapping high fives she started the schoolyard chant “na na na na na na!” A seasoned pro now since being nominated in 2008 for the best new artist Grammy. Her punky black leather jacket came off early under laser light revealing her cubist, electrical tape, tank top. Shorts, fishnets and red Docs highlighted her thigh ink which features a big black crucifix front and centre. Karate kicks and crazy dance moves, the only rest seemed to come during her keyboard tunes “When It Rains” and with confessions to her bffs on open minded musical freedom and feeling good thanks to fans. She inspired with the words, “the more music you love, the happier you’ll be” and with that, lead into “Last Hope”.  Paramore’s 2 front-men, Taylor York shredding guitars and plucking ukuleles and Jeremy Davis thumping the funky bass licks also skipped around and shook up their clean cut dos. Touring band members include Taylor’s bro Justin York on guitar and Jon Howard also on guitar. The use of three guitars stayed clean and well separated as Taylor stepped away to play pad synth or the Uke. The whole shebang was kept on the up and up with the heavy duty, hard hitting drumming of Aaron Gillespie (formerly of Underoath).

Electrifying energy, bright cross-hatched lighting and simple primary colours on three vertical video screens emulated the logo on the stage. Then there were the interludes which were not stoppages but dynamic pauses in the energy showcasing the freshness of the vocalizations with a ukulele “I’m Not Angry Anymore”, “Holiday’ and in the encore “Moving On”. The Tennessee based Paramore touched on Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide perhaps as an homage to her Texan sisters the Dixie chicks.  More off the beaten path highlights included the student choir in red robes accompanying “Ain’t It Fun” and an audience member invited on stage for the closer and doing a great job singing “Still Into You”.This “Self Titled Tour” is a positive push for Paramore’s self titled new album which debuted at the top of the SoundScan/Billboard 200 in April 2013.

Taken from the band’s upcoming sophomore album GOING TO HELLout early 2014 on Razor & Tie, the song rocks a powerful rhythmic guitar with a striking refrain thatMomsen delivers dead-on: “Oh no, heaven knows, we belong way down below.”  After premiering on SiriusXM’s Octane, the song arrives at rock radio in early December, with a video premiere to follow in January.

See what critics said about THE PRETTY RECKLESS and their Fall North American tour:

Taylor Momsen has transformed into one of the sexiest and most confrontational front women. In spite of the skepticisms, Taylor is the real deal. A bona fide Rock Goddess that can sing her ass off, with more swagger than you can handle and is overwhelmingly sexual” … JAM MAGAZINE

The Pretty Reckless are about to set fire to rock ‘n’ roll. The genre’s been begging for an honest-to-goodness firestarter like Taylor Momsen for years now.
