On April 21st, former “That Metal Show” host and comedian Don Jamieson will release his new comedy album, Communication Breakdown, via Metal Blade Records. Recorded at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Communication Breakdown‘s title and cover come from Don‘s Rutgers University senior yearbook photo. Don explains: “My young nieces and nephews found the photo at my mom’s house and starting texting me how funny it was, and when I saw it again after so many years, I agreed! I majored in communication, so it was just a matter of adding the ‘Breakdown’ to it, which is obviously something you never want to happen in comedy.” For a preview of Communication Breakdown, the track “Kiefer” can be heard at:metalblade.com/donjamieson – where the album can also be pre-ordered.

Communication Breakdown track-listing:
1. Dave Mustaine Riffs, Intervention, Baby in t…
2. Sober, Finger-Banging, Drunk Logic
3. Weed, Cigs, Election 2016
4. Kiefer
5. Myrtle Beach
6. Free Clinic, Raccoons
7. Rockers Aren’t P.C.
8. Where Have All the Rock Stars Gone?
9. Rocking Women, Viking Metal, Big Four
10. Vagina No-No’s, Van Fucker, Doggie Style
11. Dating at 50, Threesome (Almost)
12. Brad & Angelina, Great Head, Mr. Brownstone
13. Johnny Depp

Named one of the top 10 metalhead comedians by Revolver Magazine, Don has captured some of his most irreverent work to-date on his third album, Communication Breakdown. Don explains: “This album has tons of jokes but really revolves around 4 or 5 longer stories, which is something I’ve never really done before. I usually just like shot gunning jokes like beers at a frat party, but this time around I tried something a little different. It took a while to develop them for the stage but am really happy with the way they turned out, particularly the track ‘Kiefer’, which is a true story about a crazy night with the ’24’ actor.
Other than that, there’s a little bit of something for everyone on this disc, and I hope people who buy or steal it enjoy it as much as I do.”

Metal legend’s mobile RPG game available in iOS and Android stores now!

LOS ANGELES, CA – July 5th, 2016 – The wait is over! Metal and RPG gaming fans can now download Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, the action-packed, free-to-play mobile game where players take on the role of the band’s iconic mascot, Eddie. Available from today for iOS and Android devices, the teams at Nodding Frog, 50cc Games and Roadhouse Interactive have created a new and unique gaming experience in close collaboration with the band and its management team, Phantom Music Management.

The game is set in a visually stunning universe, comprised of an ever-expanding series of worlds derived from Iron Maiden’s music and art. Fans of the band and RPG gamers alike will battle and strategize as Eddie and his allies. Inspired by themes from the songs, and set against a powerful and atmospheric Maiden soundtrack, players will journey on epic quests to reclaim the shards of Eddie’s shattered soul as he faces his most challenging adversaries.

James Hursthouse, CEO of Roadhouse Interactive comments, “As a lifelong Maiden fan, I am exceptionally proud of Legacy of the Beast and excited to launch it globally. It has been a privilege to work so closely with Maiden and their management. With this game I believe that we have created an outstanding, authentic RPG experience to appeal to all mobile gamers, including those discovering the band for the first time.”

Steve Harris, Bassist and founder member of Iron Maiden comments, “We’ve always wanted to make a quality Maiden mobile game as we think the combination of Eddie and the music is so well suited – and it’s a great way to get our music out to a new audience! When the opportunity arose to make a mobile game which our fans, along with hopefully a lot of the gaming community, can play pretty well anywhere in the world, and download for free at that, we jumped at it. The whole band visited Roadhouse while touring through Vancouver back in April and we were so impressed by the creativity, enthusiasm and passion of the team there. Visually, the worlds and character designs do us proud and the music just ties it all together.”

Llexi Leon, Interactive Director of Phantom Music Management adds, “Eddie is constantly evolving; he’s a globally recognizable character that resonates with fans of all ages, and has taken on a life of his own beyond the album covers where he first appeared. This game gives players a chance to step into Eddie’s world and experience an odyssey across space and time. In this incredible RPG adventure, we’re able to explore the origins of Eddie’s power and test the limit of his abilities, bringing new mechanics to the mobile RPG genre, and creating a truly unique gaming experience for everyone to enjoy.”

In Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, players control Eddie’s destiny across a spectacularly diverse array of worlds by traveling through time in captivating 3D environments. Eddie appears in many forms, each a part of Iron Maiden’s rich history, and each with a set of special powers and abilities.

Players will amass an army of powerful allies to battle alongside Eddie and face the onslaught of foes hell-bent on destroying him. Legions of unrelenting enemies are commanded by the Agents of Control, including The Beast, The Wicker Man, Horus and The Axis General, all drawn from the expansive catalog of Maiden’s albums and artwork.

The game offers over 40 different Talisman sets to choose from, which all add to characters’ vital abilities. With each battle, players will evolve their armies, take on ever-increasing challenges to reclaim the facets of Eddie’s soul, and ultimately defeat the Agents of Control.

Gameplay is enhanced by a blistering soundtrack that features songs spanning the band’s entire career. Players will hear rare, previously unheard live recordings of Iron Maiden classics adapted for the game under the close scrutiny of bassist and founding member Steve Harris.

The game is now available for free on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. For more information about Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast, please visit www.ironmaidenlegacy.com

Metal Blade Records launches new edition of “6 Bands in 60 Seconds”

In conjunction with RED Music, Metal Blade Records has launched a new edition of the “6 Bands in 60 Seconds” campaign, where CEO Brian Slagel spotlights six artists from the label’s roster every three months. The goal of the promotion is to help fans discover new music from some of the most promising acts in the scene. The latest installment of the series features Brimstone Coven, Ketzer, Gehennah, Accuser, Artillery, and Sourvein; to watch the video clip, and to learn more about the artists, please visit: http://metalblade.com/6bands

Hailed as “kick-ass dark occult rock” (PureGrainAudio.com), Brimstone Coven released their new album, Black Magic, this past January. Boasting gritty, groovy riffs (a la Black Sabbath, Pentagram, Led Zeppelin) with Pink Floydian psychedelic movements, Black Magic also includes three-part vocal harmonies reminiscent of the Mamas and Papas, Yes, and The Byrds, resulting in “an outstanding genre album, bound to enthuse countless listeners!” (Legacy Magazine, Germany). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/brimstonecoven

Ketzer (German for “heretic”) also released their latest album, Starless, this past January. From sounds of raging fury, to the echoes of calm and cleansing waves, Starless is a record that will take you on a journey that is unexpected, yet familiar at the same time. As Decibel Magazine asserts, “What Ketzer have done on ‘Starless’ is open up a large swath of potential musical territory, while also managing to understand the confines of their origins. They’ve figured out a new vocabulary.” For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ketzergermany

After nearly 20 years, this past February marks the first full-length release (Too Loud To Live, Too Drunk To Die) from Swedish street metallers Gehennah, since 1997’s Decibel Rebel. “If you’ve ever wondered what Motorhead riffs sound like backwards, or you believe spirit – and spirits! – are more important than musicianship, then Gehennah are your new favorite bar-brawling bruthas” (Decibel Magazine). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/gehennah.metal

Last week, German thrashers Accuser unleashed their 11th full-length, The Forlorn Divide, featuring the band’s trademark blend of powerful thrash metal, virtuoso guitar-work, intricate drum patterns – and of course, gripping, harsh vocals, highlighting the dark recesses of human psyche that are described in the lyrics. After 30 years in the scene, the members of Accuser have perfected their signature style: “The younger generation could learn a thing (or ten) from these gentlemen” (DeadRhetoric.com). For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/Accuser2008

On March 25th, Danish power-thrash metallers Artillery will unleash their new album, Penalty By Perception. A familiar, yet modern thrash attack, Penalty By Perception delivers the band’s signature riffing, with powerful drumming and melodic singing – and promises to be a new fan favorite in the quintet’s storied career! For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/ARTILLERY.DK

For over two decades, Sourvein front-man T-Roy has pushed through poverty, the deaths of friends and family, bouts of severe depression, periods of alcohol abuse, and an absence of the stability provided by a consistent record label to build the band into a highly respected force in the metal, doom, sludge, and crust underground. At long last, Sourvein has found a proper home for their doom-laden Southern noise with Metal Blade Records, who will be releasing their upcoming full-length, Aquatic Occult, on April 8th. After releasing their live CD/DVD set The Brotherhood of the Blade this past October, Whitechapel is now launching a mini-documentary, entitled “Untold”, which gives an inside look into the less talked about aspects of touring. Shot and directed by Mathis Arnell / Naughty Mantis, “Untold” was filmed with the band and crew over the course of the summer of 2015 on the Rockstar Mayhem tour. Having spent most of 2015 on tour with the likes of Slayer, King Diamond, Suicide Silence, and other premier acts, Whitechapel has just entered the studio to record their sixth album and follow-up to 2014’s Our Endless War (which debuted at #10 on the Billboard Top 200 chart!). With Mark Lewis (Audio Hammer Studios) as their producer once again, the band is poised to dominate the music world this summer.

Whitechapel‘s Alex Wade (guitar) comments: “Beginning this week, we have started tracking our sixth full-length studio album. It has been a long road over the last 10 years to get to this point and we are excited to show you the next progression of Whitechapel.”
