ARCH ENEMY’ Debut New Music Video for Single, “The Race”, Taken From “Will To Power”

Having just completed a successful run of dates across Eastern Europe on the “Will To Power International Tour”, extreme metal giants ARCH ENEMY are back with another ripping single from their recently released album, “Will To Power”, with the music video single for “The Race”.

Founding member Michael Amott commented: “This was actually the last song written for the ‘Will To Power’ album. Listening through all the material we had up to that point we agreed that the album needed one more song that would be a relentless and fast paced counterpoint to some of the more epic compositions we already had. We sent Alissa the music and she came up with a thought provoking set of lyrics with an intense vocal arrangement that complemented the music perfectly. We’ve been having a blast playing this song on the current tour and we had our video director Patric Ullaeus come out to capture the mayhem at our recent show in Helsinki, Finland… Enjoy ‘The Race’!”

Watch “The Race” streaming below or here:

ARCH ENEMY will bring their “utterly enchanting melodies and savage riffs” (Metal Injection), to audiences across North America later this month as they join Trivium for a co-headlining tour from October 27 to December 6 featuring support from While She Sleeps and Fit For An Autopsy. Tales from the Pit: Arch Enemy! War Eternal

arch enemy logo

This past summer I interviewed Swedish death metal band Arch Enemy’s new vocalist, Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of the band The Agonist. You can read the interview in the next issue of Rock N Roll Industries magazine that will be hitting Guitar Centers in December, 2014. After meeting Alissa and talking to her about the change and following the foots steps of one of the most powerful woman lead singers in metal, I had no doubt that she would blow people’s minds during their tour. On November 12th at the House of Blues in Anaheim I made it just in time to see German metal titans Kreator who were direct support for Arch Enemy. Sad to say I missed Huntress, but I heard from my fellow headbangers in the pit that they did an awesome performance, and that their frontwoman, Jill Janus, had an epic wardrobe!

War Eternal is the first album release from Arch Enemy with their new singer, and was released this past summer.  Their set was a mix of old Arch Enemy and new material from War Eternal. I personally feel it was the perfect combination to satisfy new and old fans. Alissa did an excellent job on the new songs like “War Eternal,”  “As the Pages Burn” and “You Will Know My Name.”  What-is-more, she also took the older material to new heights with her guttural growl and demonic vocals.

If I didn’t already  know her, it would be hard to believe that such a powerful and brutal sound could come out of such a petite and very pretty young lady. She made this metal chick right here very proud! I was right up-front in the pit watching here command the stage. She is so captivating, and I love how she uses full body movements and hand jesters when she sings. She uses the whole stage, and also utilizes her mic stand as a prop to encourage the crowd to pump their fists! A fan screamed out: “I love you!” She heard it and yelled right back: “I love you too!” The fans ate it up and so did I. You can tell she cares about her fans, and throughout the set she engages with them all the time. She keeps the melodic style of death metal and the aggression in the vocals Arch Enemy is famous for. Highlight of the night was getting my paws on one of Michael Amott’s guitar picks: Security let me get in front of the barricade and Michael handed it right to me! Awesome show! I can’t wait to see what’s next for Arch Enemy! Oh, and other very cool highlight,  was seeing Doyle, ex-guitarist for the Misfits, standing on side of the stage taking pictures of the band and watching his girl annihilate!
