Chicago’s very own conductors of Death Metal brutality, BROKEN HOPE are pleased to announce details of their forthcoming full length album, Mutilated And Assimilated, which will see the light of day on Friday June 23rd 2017 via Century Media Records.
Regarding the new album—-BH guitarist/lyricist/founding father Jeremy Wagner says:
“BROKEN HOPE studio album number SEVEN?! Un-fucking-believable! I’m floored at how amazing our new album turned out. The songs are relentless and violent and dark and heavy–and ALL from a fresh and ferocious place we haven’t shared before. Moreover, thanks to my new studio and the stellar work of engineering/producing Jedi–SCOTT CREEKMORE–the production is on a sonic level like we’ve never had in our career.
Thanks to my brothers: DAMIAN, MIKE, MATT, DIEGO, and SCOTT–ALL of whom brought their amazing talent and skills not just to the table, but kicked it into the stratosphere! Thank you to WES BENSCOTER for collaborating with us to create the epic/sick/THING-inspired album artwork, and a huge thanks to CENTURY MEDIA worldwide for being in our corner with this new album.
For me personally, I feel MUTILATED and ASSIMILATED is my own finest hour as a guitarist and lyricist since I formed this band as teenager. I ‘ve never felt this inspired before. The album has my strongest riffage to date, it also has Leski riffage on a few songs, it has my best friends on it, and in a crazy twist, I used JEFF HANNEMAN’s guitars to write the album with and used them to track with in honor of his influence on myself AND the world of metal.
The LP version will be released in the following vinyl colors:
Gatefold “Peeled Flesh” neon pink LP+CD: US Exclusive
Gatefold “Antarctic” blue LP+CD: Band Exclusive

Don Jamieson reveals details for new comedy album, ‘Communication Breakdown’; launches new track, “Kiefer”, online
On April 21st, former “That Metal Show” host and comedian Don Jamieson will release his new comedy album, Communication Breakdown, via Metal Blade Records. Recorded at The Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Communication Breakdown‘s title and cover come from Don‘s Rutgers University senior yearbook photo. Don explains: “My young nieces and nephews found the photo at my mom’s house and starting texting me how funny it was, and when I saw it again after so many years, I agreed! I majored in communication, so it was just a matter of adding the ‘Breakdown’ to it, which is obviously something you never want to happen in comedy.” For a preview of Communication Breakdown, the track “Kiefer” can be heard at:metalblade.com/donjamieson – where the album can also be pre-ordered.
Communication Breakdown track-listing:
1. Dave Mustaine Riffs, Intervention, Baby in t…
2. Sober, Finger-Banging, Drunk Logic
3. Weed, Cigs, Election 2016
5. Myrtle Beach
6. Free Clinic, Raccoons
7. Rockers Aren’t P.C.
8. Where Have All the Rock Stars Gone?
9. Rocking Women, Viking Metal, Big Four
10. Vagina No-No’s, Van Fucker, Doggie Style
11. Dating at 50, Threesome (Almost)
12. Brad & Angelina, Great Head, Mr. Brownstone
13. Johnny Depp
Named one of the top 10 metalhead comedians by Revolver Magazine, Don has captured some of his most irreverent work to-date on his third album, Communication Breakdown. Don explains: “This album has tons of jokes but really revolves around 4 or 5 longer stories, which is something I’ve never really done before. I usually just like shot gunning jokes like beers at a frat party, but this time around I tried something a little different. It took a while to develop them for the stage but am really happy with the way they turned out, particularly the track ‘Kiefer’, which is a true story about a crazy night with the ’24’ actor.
Other than that, there’s a little bit of something for everyone on this disc, and I hope people who buy or steal it enjoy it as much as I do.”
THE STARBREAKERS made their debut at The Viper Room in West Hollywood, California on Saturday March 11. The all-star cover band which features five of the most talented female musicians in the Los Angeles area played to a sold out crowd. They unleashed their take on some metal classic by such bands as Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper.
Nita Strauss originally invited Jill, Courtney and Lindsay to play on a few Iron Maiden songs at Lucky Strike in Hollywood for her birthday bash. Emily joined up a few weeks later as so began The Starbreakers.
According to guitarist Nita Strauss, when asked if they would do any original material, “It’s just a fun side project for us while we have free time between our main bands.”
A couple guests joined them as well. Alicia Vigil (VIGIL OF WAR) on bass during “Welcome to the Jungle” and Katt Scarlett (FEMME FATALE) backing vocals for “Poison.”
THE STARBREAKERS are: Jill Janus (HUNTRESS, CHELSEA GIRLS) – Vocals, Nita Strauss (ALICE COOPER, THE IRON MAIDENS) – Guitar, Courtney Cox (THE IRON MAIDENS, FEMME FATALE) – Guitar, Lindsay Martin (THE AVIATORS, GLAM SKANKS) – Drums and Emily Ruvidich (MISTY DAY) – Bass.
Ace of Spades (Motorhead)
Bark at the Moon (Ozzy Osbourne)
Holy Diver (Dio)
Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden)

The Belasco Theater
With numerous sold out dates, the second leg of Skilletʼs “Unleashed” tour is now on the last dates until the Little Rock, AR show on March 24th marks the end of the line for this run. The band will have numerous major festival appearances yet marking another milestone of their already successful career as one of the most hard-working bands in rock and one of the most acclaimed and award-winning Christian bands in history. During the Belasco show, we witnessed the vast diversity of Skilletʼs fan base. From Young kids who attended the show with their parents to the teens and adults who feel identified with their message and positive energy.
Do not be fooled, seeing kids and moms in the crowd does not mean you wonʼt have a rocking good time. Everything from their anthem-like songs to the music-synced lighting (awesome job lighting guy) and energy displayed through each and every one of their upbeat songs makes the purchase your ticket one of the most memorable and satisfying investments when it comes to rock shows.
“Unconventional” is probably one of my favorite words to describe Skilletʼs shows. John Cooper (Vocals/bass) during certain songs drops his instrument to focus on the mic only and get closer to the crowd, Korey Cooper will steal your attention on stage right switching between guitars, keys and backup vocals, this dynamic duo (marriage) is one of my favorite aspects as pillars of the band. Seth Seth Morrison on stage left is in charge of the leads (guitar) and his charm (I noticed) had some of the young crowdʼs attention who prefer the 6-string performers and last but not least, miss Jen Ledger, in the back on the drums who can not only hit those skins and cymbals with some fierce power but also takes a break from her duty to sing and lead vocals for a few minutes and who also adds backup vocals during various songs in their set.
The meet and greet experiences (available as an upgrade) have become a fan- favorite opportunity to have a photo opportunity with their rock n roll heroes.
To name all the awards and nominations this band has been part of reflects the quality of not only their dedication as performers but also as people that bring a positive message to the crowd with their music… or a rocking attitude with tons of feel-good sounds.
Visit www.Skillet.com/tour for the remaining dates and make sure you upgrade your experience for the meet and greet opportunities.

Alter Bridge at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA
Alter Bridge is brilliant. It shows not only in their studio recordings, but also in the vitality of their live performances. The band is full of energy and along with great sound quality; they are not over-produced with a bunch of fancy sets. It’s all about the music and interaction with the audience. Throughout the evening, the crowd proved to be anything but typical. Normally, when a singer turns the microphone to the audience, the energy in the room drops drastically. However the Alter Bridge crowd was fanatically singing in unison.
Featuring songs from their latest album “The Last Hero”, released last October, and sprinkled with many of their most beloved tunes such as “Open Your Eyes,” “Metalingus,” “Blackbird” and the acoustic Kennedy-only ballad “Watch over You,” the only slowed down moment in an otherwise high energy set.
With Scott Phillips on percussion, Brian Marshall on bass, Mark Tremonti on guitar and vocals, and Myles Kennedy on guitar and lead vocals, Alter Bridge delivered an impeccable performance to their fans. The rhythm section of Phillips and Marshall is an absolutely perfect platform for the masterful guitar work of Tremonti and Kennedy. They are extremely dynamic and locked-in tempo to the nuances of their songs. Watching and hearing this quartet play is undoubtedly a great pleasure for anyone that appreciates good music.
The love put into their music that both the band and its fans share with one another was undeniably shown in their performance on this night. The band performed a two-hour set with an encore that included “Show Me a Leader” and “Rise Today.”
They may be a million-selling rock band, but there’s no denying the talent on the stage. If they are in your town, it’s a must see performance that you won’t regret seeing.
