Toil and Trouble Burlesque- The Ides of March

For those who are familiar with Shakespeare’s plays I would highly recommend to watch this sassy, and very sexy version of Julius Caesar’s assassination. However if you’re not familiar, I’d suggest you attend to Toil and Trouble’s Burlesque in the future and learn some history in a very naughty mind blowing way.

Each act is portrayed with emotional dances and as you can imagine, taking it all off.  The choice of songs and dance performances were captivating and mesmerizing. Each act was dramatically unique, the crowd was seen cheering and screaming. Without going into much detail, I have selected a few images to show everyone the passionate and beautiful show that was put together.

Sum 41 at the Mayan Theater

Sum 41

November 6th, 2016

Los Angeles, Ca
The Mayan Theater (Downtown LA)
img_1730
It is my first time at the Mayan Theater for a “rock concert”. Just a few days ago I was at The Belasco (just right next door) to see Gemini Syndrome, Red Sun Rising and Sevendust, but the experience here was nothing but extraordinary. As many of us know, after lead singer/guitarist Deryck Whibley hit rock bottom with health and addiction complications and with the band on hiatus for a few years, it it great to see them back on this “Don’t call it a Sum-back tour”, now as a 5-piece and with the new album just released on October 7th, 2016 called 13 Voices”, expect to see this fun show that has gathered old fans and many teens in one place, now that I haven’t seen in a while. You will definitely enjoy the show and reminisce your HS days when all you cared about was hanging out with your friends and blast some rock n roll.
In case you missed the show check out some of the images.

“FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK: The story of Rodrigo y Gabriela”

FTATR poster
A few months ago, I had the honor of being invited to the premiere of “FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK: The story of Rodrigo y Gabriela” during the Hola Mexico Film Festival by its director, founder and good friend, Samuel Douek (who happens to be a fellow metal fan)

The festival runs for about 10 days and is hosted at Regal Cinemas/LA Live complex in Downtown LA. A few members of our magazine were present at the premiere of the movie and were able to chat with music journalist and movie director, Alejandro Franco which was also followed by a Q&A.

Rockers, Mom’s, dads and music lovers all around were present, although many had never heard the name of the duo, they were just present for the love to the 7th art. After the movie, we interviewed a few attendees and all were very pleased with the story told, despite not being rock music fans.

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK: The story of Rodrigo y Gabriela is a documentary about the “Cinderella Story” as many have described it. It depicts how two “unsuccessful” metal musicians just drop everything, pack their bags and search for new opportunities in… *drum roll” Europe! With (literally) only their dreams and guitars at hand, through busking busking on the streets, lots of effort and a hint of “luck”, this guitar duo made it big by rocking their acoustic guitars first on the streets followed by massive concerts and venues such as the Glasgow Festival and more recently here in LA on August 14th at the Hollywood Bowl, yeah, “the bowl” as many of us call it. Not bad for a pair of “unknowns” right?

The story of Rodrigo y Gabriela is compelling and inspirational. It resonates with all those of us in the music community that strive everyday to master our craft and create art that has taken sweat, tears and even blood to share with the world to enjoy. If you are not inspired to keep chasing your dreams and taking risks to make them happen after watching this film, you may not be of our human kind.

Opening today, August 22nd 2016, in 50 movie theaters in Mexico, we hope to see this documentary make its way to a few US theaters as well. You can also visit FTATRmovie.com for more info and social media links.

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 15, 2016) – Assembling as a politically-charged response to 2016’s tumultuous election year, PROPHETS OF RAGE, features TOM MORELLO, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ LORD.  Best described by Morello as an, “elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit,” the group combines the sonic firepower of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill.  The band will release their EP “The Party’s Over” on August 26th available through digital download, streaming services and physical retail, released through Caroline.  The EP will be available for pre-order on August 19th, the same day the Make America Rage Again Tour begins.  Prior to release, two tracks will premiere on Beats 1, Apple Music’s global radio station.  “No Sleep Til Cleveland” will premiere with Matt Wilkinson on August 18th and “The Party’s Over” will premiere with Zane Lowe on August 25th.
In the meantime, fans can visit the band’s website to stream the song “Prophets Of Rage” at www.prophetsofrage.com.  A re-imagination of the original Public Enemy song of the same name, with new music and a new original verse from B-Real, the song gave life to the band’s name.
Storming through Cleveland during the RNC and setting the rock world abuzz with sold-out shows at The Whisky, The Hollywood Palladium and Warsaw in Brooklyn that had thousands of hopeful fans lined up, the band has proven to be social media magnet from the start, setting #MakeAmericaRAGEAgain and #TakeThePowerBack trending virally.  In what the LA Times headlined simply as “REVOLUTIONARY,” the band’s MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN TOUR made its first three stops at LA’s Skid Row, the RNC protests in Cleveland, and outside the walls of NORCO Penitentiary.  The tour is headed for the rest of America and will include stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta before concluding in San Diego, mere weeks before 2016 Election Day. A portion of the proceeds from each Prophets Of Rage concert will benefit a local charity that works to help the homeless and the hungry.

Prophets Of Rage is a must see, if you have missed them before, here is preview from one of their recent shows at Whisky A Go Go and at the Forum, with Dave Grohl as a special guest!

(New York, N.Y.): Killswitch Engage released their seventh album Incarnate via Roadrunner Records on Friday, March 11.

The Massachusetts-based band is considered largely responsible for the American metal and hard rock resurgence in the ’00s, leading to several gold-certified releases in their catalog. They continue to do what they do best and the fans continue to respond, as Incarnate debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, with 34,709 in total activity, as well as at #3 on the Current Albums Chart and at #1 on both the Rock Chart and the Hard Music Chart.

On the international front, the album debuted at #1 overall in Canada; at #5 in Australia; and at #10 in both the UK and in Germany.

These mark the band’s highest debuts ever.

“We are extremely proud of Killswitch Engage and their continued drive to reach new heights in their pioneering career. This once again proves that great rock music will always endure and fans around the world will continue to show their support,” said Dave Rath, SVP of A&R, Roadrunner Records.

Incarnate has been one of the most anticipated releases of 2016, with nods from Rolling Stone, Nerdist, Alternative Press, Loudwire, Decibel, New Noise, About, All Music, and Revolver, the latter of which featured the band on the cover, posed as iconic Star Wars characters.

The band commemorated the album release with a fully sold-out, five-shows-in-six-nights New York City residency. The intimate residency saw KsE playing Gramercy Theatre, Bowery Ballroom, and the Marlin Room at Webster Hall in Manhattan and at St. Vitus and Rough Trade in Brooklyn. It was the first time the band performed at any of those venues. Watch the video recap here.

As soon as the residency wrapped, KsE headed back out on the road for a headline tour, with Memphis May Fire, 36 Crazyfists, and Toothgrinder in tow. The tour began on March 16 and wraps at the end of April.

Dates for the tour are here.

Produced by Zeuss and recorded at Goathouse studios, this new record is a full return to form by Zombie. The album features John 5 (Guitar), Piggy D (Bass) and Ginger Fish (Drums) with provocative art provided by Alex Horley. To celebrate the release of the album, Zombie has made a direct-to-fan presale available on FuckinginaUFO.com where fans can pre-order the new record and collectible merchandise, as well as purchase exclusive tickets and VIP Meet & Greet bundles for the new tour and a chance to be in The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser movie. Korn built an immortal bond in 1993 the first time Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, and Brian “Head” Welch decided to make music as a unit. They shed blood, sweat, and tears in the studio and on stage, fashioning an undeniable and unique sound that would permanently alter the course of rock music. After six seminal releases, two Grammy Awards, countless sold out shows, and selling 35 million albums worldwide, Head left the group in 2004 to face the demons of addiction. Korn soldiered on, adding drummer Ray Luzier in 2007 and releasing four more full-length releases. In 2012, a triumphant and tear-filled reunion happened on stage as the group headlined the Carolina Rebellion Festival with Head reprising his legendary part on “Blind”. The initial bond came back into focus, and it was time for their next studio album, The Paradigm Shift, which seamlessly melds the group’s ever-present spirit of innovation with their signature metallic catharsis, paving the way for the future yet again. In 2014, Korn started their 20th anniversary celebrations, playing their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album in its entirety. The shows were so well received, the group continued the festivities into 2015, performing the record on tour to fans around the world. At present, Korn is back in the studio hard at work on their twelfth album set for release in 2016.

VAMPIRES EVERYWHERE Premieres New Song and Tour Dates

VAMPIRES EVERYWHERE
Premieres New Song, “Ghost Inside My Head”
with Alternative Press
‘Ritual’ out on March 18, 2016
Pre-orders Available Now

65b4377e-6f45-4b23-ac19-34f373e8e880

Los Angeles rock act VAMPIRES EVERYWHERE has teamed up with Alternative Press for the premiere of their latest track, “Ghost Inside My Head.” The song will be featured on the new album ‘Ritual’ due out on March 18, 2016, and can be heard here: http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/i_remember_recording_this_song_with_tears_in_my_eyes._vampires_everywhere_p

“Ghost Inside My Head” is one of the most personal tracks on the record, as vocalist Michael Orlando explains, “There’s always one song that defines exactly how you felt when you wrote it and this is that song for me. I had just gone through a very bad breakup with my ex fiancé and to make matters worse, my father died the same week. I had an overload of emotion. I resorted to alcohol abuse and became very destructive. I remember recording this song with tears in my eyes praying to get through it. Once we laid down the final vocal track, I listened to it over and over again. It was the only thing that got me through my day. I am beyond thankful to get the opportunity to do what I love everyday and I’m excited for you all to hear the track.”

Serving as the follow up to 2012’s ‘Hellbound and Heartless,’ ‘Ritual’ was produced by Matt Good [From First To Last, DRUGS], and mixed by David Bendeth [Bring Me The Horizon, Paramore]. Thus far, the group has released two other tracks off of ‘Ritual’ – the first single “Black Betty,” and a cover of Hozier’s breakout hit, “Take Me To Church” (featuring Alex Koehler of CHELSEA GRIN).   Pre-orders for ‘Ritual’ are available via iTunes, with bundles including an instant download of the unreleased track, “Demon Inside Me” on the Vampires Everywhere merch store.

In support of the new album, the band will kick off their headlining North American run, “The Ritual Tour” this March, to be followed by a slot on the upcoming “Make America Hate Again” tour alongside Filter and Orgy. A full list of dates can be seen below.

ZAKK WYLDE TO RELEASE BOOK OF SHADOWS II

ZAKK WYLDE TO RELEASE BOOK OF SHADOWS II ON APRIL 8, 2016

FIRST SOLO RELEASE IN 20 YEARS

ebcd7b4f-6aba-4426-81e5-862bbb6c82b7

January 14, 2016 — Guitar icon Zakk Wylde will release Book Of Shadows II on April 8th, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music), his first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favorite. Book Of Shadows II was recently named as one of the “Most Anticipated Metal Releases of 2016” via Rollingstone.com.

Wylde has been feverishly working on new material since he wrapped up Black Label Society’s “Unblackened” spring tour last year. All songs on Book of Shadows II were recorded and produced at Wylde’s legendary home studio, The Black Vatican, which produced several of Wylde’s recent releases. The new effort will be followed by a wave of tour dates in support to be announced soon.

Zakk Wylde is no stranger to showing the lighter, introspective side of his music, having previously released two Black Label Society albums of stripped down material. The Song Remains Not the Same was released in 2011 which included acoustic versions of songs originally released on Order of the Black and 2013’s Unblackened, a live acoustic album that was recorded live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Zakk will also be in full participation in this year’s NAMM Convention taking place at The Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA January 21-24. Zakk’s newly minted line of Guitars known as Wylde Audio will be on full display in Room 210-D and will be signing from 3pm – 5pm on Friday Jan 22. ZAKK SABBATH, a side project featuring guitarist/vocalist Wylde, bassist Blasko (OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE) and drummer Joey Castillo (DANZIG, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) performing only BLACK SABBATH SONGS will be playing at The Grove of Anaheim Saturday January 23rd.
